Hi Tai,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed viewing your post on the Dick, Carey, and Carey’s 2005 Instructional Design (ISD) model. Your reflection of how this ISD model is somewhat rigid and requires a great deal of planning at the beginning will definitely work for our team’s Web Based Instruction project for this term. This model allows feedback from the trainees, which enables the course designers to incorporate improvements to enhance the educational experiences of our adult target audience. This model is also applicable for classroom instruction, will keep the instructor on task and allow them time to evaluate each step of instructional process to minimize learning barriers.
Great post,
Denise Tolliver
Hi Denise,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree that it is a good model to use when working with others because it is rigid. I was thinking about it more with respect to using it as a solo instructor. I appreciate your feedback!

Hi Tai, Good work on this! I think Kindergarten teachers have to be constructivist due to the nature of the job :) How might you apply this to an online learning environment?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your thoughts!

Hi Doc,
DeleteI think that applying a constructivist learning theory to an online environment would work well with younger students. I am thinking about the games that we play in kindergarten to support academics. I would imagine a type of flipped classroom website being essential, where I could post a video of how to play a game for a student to view. I think that kindergarten students in an online learning environment would still need modeling and practicing before independently completing tasks, with scaffolding as needed per the subject. I can only imagine teaching kindergarten at a distance with video instructions--I can't imagine it without it!
Thanks for the question!
Tai
